Sorrow Paves a New Path For The Horror Genre

If there’s one lesson to take away from indie horror film Sorrow, it is to never sleep alone in your car. Your sleep may cost you your life. This spring, curl up on your couch with a tub of popcorn and a pillow and watch Sorrow. This film utilizes an array of entertaining factors, like horror, thriller and plot twists, to engage the audience.

This movie portrays the story of a young woman who has been captured by deranged serial killers and becomes the target of merciless torture. When detectives rescue her, she is released from the hospital before they are able to ask her any questions. Why didn’t she seek help from the detectives? How did they come to find her? Will she ever able to tell her story of unspeakable terror?

According to the director of Sorrow, Millie Loredo, she herself was cradled with this fear for many years before she decided to make her directorial debut. She decided to begin by shooting Sorrow as a 15-minute short film in Utah. Loredo said after this horrible nightmare where people were slaughtered in front of her with blood all around, she gave words to her dream on paper.

The film stars Vannessa Vasquez as Mila Sweeney, Eric Martinez as Dale Rogers, Melissa Mars as Detective Salinas, Andrew Sensenig as Chief of Police, Donny Boaz as Detective Farrell and Mary Etuk as ruthless killer Hersey Igor. Although this is Etuk’s first film, she and Vasquez steal the show with their powerful performances.

This spine-tingling film tale is revealed in many layers of dark mystery and psychological torture. Don’t miss this indie horror film, which will be available in theaters, on DVD and on Amazon Prime Tuesday, April 21. Check out some of the chilling images from the film below!
