Writer and director Millie Loredo set out to create a passion project, an indie horror film that keeps audiences guessing what will happen next. In order to tell her story with as much enthusiasm as she had while writing the screenplay, she knew she had to cast actors that would dedicate themselves fully to the roles and complex characters she had created.
Some of the actors Loredo cast are veterans of both the big screen and television, but some of them are newcomers. She said the basis of her casting centered on how immersed in the story these actors could become. She found the following actors to have shown the most commitment to their characters.
1. Mila Sweeney – Played by Vannessa Vasquez
Vannessa Vasquez currently stars as Camila in Hulu Network’s original series “East Los High.” Loredo said she showed intense dedication to character and could not have asked for a better lead actress. She has also starred in Sorrow Horror Films like Narca and Misfire.
2. Dale Rogers – Played by Eric Martinez
Eric Martinez is notorious for playing villains both on television and in film. He said he took on the role of Dale Rogers, because he felt like he could create a more complex and multi-dimensional criminal with Loredo’s script. He is currently filming a role in AMC’s “Better Caul Saul” and the iTunes series “Tailed.”
3. Hersey Igor – Played by Mary Etuk
Mary Etuk is a newcomer, having previously had small roles in short films like Spirit Squad: Crimefighting Cheerleaders and Steve from Accounting vs. the Shadow Dwellers. Etuk was worried she wasn’t as experienced or doing as well as the rest of the cast, but Loredo said Etuk was one of the best on set.
4. Chief Gonzales – Played by Andrew Sensenig
Andrew Sensenig may be one of the most seasoned actors in Loredo’s film. His credits include not only acting but also producing, directing and voiceover work. He most recently starred in another indie horror film titled We Are Still Here, which premiered at the 2015 SXSW Film & Music Festival.
5. Detective Salinas – Played by Melissa Mars
Melissa Mars is Loredo’s French indie film sweetheart. She has starred in several indie films, including The Cabining and Curse of Mesopotamia. Loredo said she thrives in the role of justice-seeking Detective Salinas.
6. Detective Farrell – Played by Donny Boaz
Donny Boaz started his career in Hollywood as a model for companies like Abercrombie & Fitch and Neiman Marcus. His first acting role was on the television show Saving Jessica Lynch. Since then he has appeared in both television and film, including NCIS, Dallas and The Great Debaters.
